ELIG's History
was formed in 1992, with the assistance of funding from CAPS (Consultation & Advocacy
Promotion Service).
We became an independent group on 1 April 2000 (and that's not a joke!) with a small membership and limited funding. More recently, an increase in our funding has enabled us to extend the hours of our Development Worker and employ a part-time administrator. Our membership has grown over the years and currently stands at around eighty.
has always worked to represent the interests of users of mental health services, by members
involving themselves in consultation processes - for example, ELIG members were involved in curriculum planning for Mental Health Nurse students at Napier University,
Edinburgh.
